Fire engulfs 6 houses in Gandhari Paddar

A major fire broke out in the evening yesterday in village Khajroni of Gandhari, Paddar area. The inferno gutted down 6 homes of the village completely leaving the families homeless and helpless. Minister of State for Transport, PWD(R&B) Mr. Sunil Sharma who is also the local MLA of the area flew in with Deputy Commissioner, Mr. G. N. Balwan and the government officials to the spot to assess the situation and provide immediate relief to the affected families by providing cheques to the tune of 1 lakh rupees each and ₹10000 in cash. 

Lending a helping hand Mr. Sharma also announced that the fire sufferers will be be given ₹3000 as monthy  remuneration and 6 months of free ration until the families are rehabilitated. He also informed  that the Member of Parliament of Doda – Udhampur region MoS in Prime Minister’s Office Mr.  Jitender Singh has assured to give relief to the tune of 5 lakhs to the affected families. 

As an immediate relief each family was given a kitchen set, solar light, a tent and blankets.

Kishtwar MLC Mr. Sajad also distributed warm clothes and blankets besides giving financial assistance of ₹50000 each to the victims from his Constituency Development Fund and ₹10000 out of his salary.

The local administration of the area; SDM, Tehsildar  and political workers of various parties were present there to help in relief work.
